Post is expanding its e-fleet
Since March 2022, the postal service has only been purchasing electric vehicles for deliveries. Electric drives are also becoming the norm for company vehicles with their special requirements – sales appointments, field service, pool vehicles, etc. New purchases almost exclusively involve electric vehicles, while combustion engines are gradually being phased out. "With the BMW Group, we are relying on a European manufacturer that offers high-performance electric vehicles at attractive overall costs over the life cycle and also produces engines in Austria. In addition, there are short delivery times and a comprehensive workshop network. Our company vehicle fleet, which includes almost 700 vehicles, will gain significant momentum with the addition of BMW," says Peter Umundum, Deputy General Director, Board of Directors for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG.
Alexander Bamberger, Managing Director of BMW Austria GmbH: "We are pleased that the Austrian Post AG has placed its trust in us and is therefore choosing the automobile manufacturer that represents the highest added value in the country. For example, the developer know-how from Steyr ensures that the models ordered have ideal heat management and therefore a long range." A first tranche of vehicles was ordered from the BMW Group in Austria in autumn 2024, including the BMW iX1, BMW i4 and BMW i5 models. Further vehicle tranches will follow.
