Million-dollar order for ZKW

After the strict cost savings program, the automotive lighting specialist ZKW can now look forward to an important order for its main plant in Wieselburg. A major order worth millions from a German automobile manufacturer secures the location in the short and medium term. In addition, the austerity measures are showing initial success. The operating result was exceeded compared to the 2022 period. The recipe for success lies, among other things, in optimized processes in production. This not only allows the number of items to be increased, but also reduces absenteeism. "Our company headquarters in Wieselburg is a hub for innovative lighting systems for premium brands. The goal is to achieve profitable and sustainable growth through concentration and focus," explains Wilhelm Steger, CEO of the ZKW Group.

The current major order is a necessary contribution to the restructuring plan and, after the job cuts communicated in the spring, brings a breather for a large part of the workforce in Wieselburg. The cost savings program will continue as planned with the job cuts of 600 employees (340 of them temporary workers) until the end of 2024. "Our special thanks go to all employees who have remained loyal to us and are committed to the future of the Wieselburg site. With the successful cost reduction program and the major order, we see light at the end of the tunnel," says site manager Andreas Nix. ZKW in Wieselburg continues to focus on innovation as well as the development and production of premium lighting systems for well-known automobile manufacturers. The new strategic direction for the headquarters is based on four pillars: focus on premium products, lighting systems for trucks and buses, a strengthened after-sales area and the development and production of innovative lighting modules.
