Funding for electric cars 2023

In 2023 there will be some changes to promote e-mobility. Most affect companies, local authorities and clubs: only social institutions, driving schools, e-car sharing and e-taxis will receive purchase subsidies for e-cars purchased in 2023. “What is new is that electric cars purchased in 2022 can be submitted for funding this year if a corresponding purchase contract is presented,” explains Öamtc e-mobility expert Markus Kaiser. There are still tax advantages, such as the exemption from benefits in kind, the ability to deduct input tax, the elimination of the standard consumption tax and the motor-related insurance tax. In addition to e-mobility funding, a separate funding track with 100 million euros is also planned for emission-free commercial vehicles and infrastructure, which will provide companies and clubs with targeted support in fleet conversion.

As before, the purchase of an electric car will be financially supported for private individuals with a total of 5,000 euros. There is a change to plug-in hybrids: from 2023, they must be able to cover a purely electric range of 60 kilometers according to WLTP instead of the previous 50 kilometers in order to be entitled to the subsidy of 2,500 euros. In total, the Climate Protection Ministry (BMK) will provide 95 million euros in 2023 as part of e-mobility funding. Applications are expected to be submitted at the end of January 2023 www.umweltfoerderung.atbe provided. There will be an additional funding program with 10 million euros for underserved areas from mid-2023. Private charging infrastructure is also supported: you can get up to 600 euros for wall boxes or intelligent charging cables. You can get up to 1,800 euros for communication-capable wallboxes with load management if they are installed in an apartment building as part of a communal system.

In 2023 (as in the previous year), depending on the vehicle class and engine power, BMK and the importers will offer up to 1,900 euros for the purchase of a single-track electric vehicle (e-moped or e-motorcycle). The requirements for receiving funding also remain largely the same.
