The wallbox to take with you
“No wallbox, no problem” is the pithy advertising slogan of the young Austrian charging technology company, which was founded in March 2021 by Christian Kranz in Graz. Just one year later, the innovative charging solution NEcharge One came onto the market and has enjoyed growing demand ever since. The highlight: The entire charging technology is housed in a small black box directly on the 5 meter long charging cable, which only weighs 2.5 kilograms in total. One end is simply plugged into a high-voltage socket or, using an adapter, into a normal Schuko socket; the other end is equipped with a Type 2 plug, which has become standard for electric vehicles in Europe. The mobile box automatically detects which power is available on the cable and transmits the information to the display in the vehicle. The charging process starts automatically, no additional app is required. On a 400 volt power socket that is fused with 16 amps, the charging power is a maximum of 11 kW thanks to 3-phase Plug & Charge technology. If you plug the charging cable into a normal 230 volt household socket, it will charge with 1.4 kW to 2.3 kW.
“By eliminating the expensive installation costs of a wallbox, the NEcharge One currently has the most attractive price-performance ratio on the market,” says Max Sommer, who is responsible for corporate growth at the Styrian start-up as Chief Growth Officer. The four-person core team also includes founder and CEO Christian Kranz, chief operations officer Patrick Hierhold and chief technical officer Stefan Brandstätter. “We are currently in close contact with well-known online retailers, renowned and up-and-coming OEMs, e-car leasing companies and holistic e-mobility providers in order to complete the first orders,” says Max Sommer. It is not without pride that he emphasizes that the young Styrian company consistently lives the principles of regional value creation and sustainability. The NEcharge One is manufactured in Rottenmann, Styria by production partner GPV. All components and materials available in Austria and Germany are sourced regionally. “We can claim with a clear conscience that 98% of the total added value remains in Austria and Germany,” said Sommer.
There is currently a gold rush atmosphere on the international market for charging technology. It's no wonder that the mobile solution from the Graz-based young company aroused curiosity among investors. Recently, two experts from the electronics industry, Maximilian Seidel from Situlus Holding and Gabriel Dielacher from Designed Impact Consulting and Sales GmbH, joined NEcharge. The internationally experienced investors support the next step in growth after the successful market launch. The NEcharge One is currently available from selected online retailers, from some energy supply companies and from numerous car dealerships. Orders are also constantly being received in our own web shop. The convincing sales arguments: The mobile charger can easily be taken in the trunk or trunk to other charging points. Compared to expensive public fast charging stations, the kWh price when charging with the NEcharge One is reduced by up to 75 percent.
