The fleet trends for 2024
For Webfleet, a provider of fleet management solutions, there will be two main trends driving fleets in 2024.

The fleet trends for 2024
According to Webfleet, driving safety and sustainable transport will be the two major thematic cornerstones with a view to fleet trends in 2024. “Integrated data management is above all, because fleet companies can only make intelligent decisions for more safety, sustainability and efficiency based on relevant information,” says Wolfgang Schmid, Webfleet Head of Central Region. Schmid continues: "The management of fleets has changed fundamentally in recent years. While the focus was initially on pure tracking and tracing of vehicles, holistic mobility and data management for long-term and sustainable entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important for the industry today and in the future. This approach includes more efficient and transparent management of vehicle fleets, which leads to optimized operational processes, more safety and satisfaction as well as cost reductions."
The shortage of skilled workers does not stop at the transport industry. “For companies, this means, on the one hand, creating incentives for new drivers and, on the other hand, retaining the best employees,” explains Wolfgang Schmid. The safety and support of drivers are the focus of modern fleet management solutions. Through the use of digital tools, drivers are supported in a practical and targeted manner. “This helps drivers have less stress and can concentrate on their actual tasks,” analyzes Schmid. Webfleet therefore offers solutions for more driving safety - from intelligent navigation systems to efficient planning tools to AI-based video solutions for safe driving. Desired side effects: The effects of high workloads and tight schedules are reduced and employee satisfaction increases.
The second key topic will be the increasing importance of CO2-reduced driving. This includes aspects such as higher fuel efficiency, for example through fuel-saving driving behavior and driver coaching, through clever maintenance and tire management, through efficient utilization and through better routes, as well as electromobility. “The decarbonization of mobility will play an increasingly important role, especially in urban areas,” says Wolfgang Schmid. The new Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive (CSRD) will come into force from January 2024. Fulfilling this directive, especially reporting on stricter emissions targets, will be a challenge for many companies. The goal here is to develop the right fleet strategy and use the right tools. “Advanced fleet management solutions promote more environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility,” summarizes fleet expert Schmid. In his opinion, the big trend is to connect data even more. Artificial intelligence will ensure that huge amounts of data are developed into concrete suggestions, which can then be evaluated and implemented by fleet managers.
