DAT Barometer: Car subscriptions are hardly relevant for professionals

The shortage of raw materials and the associated delivery difficulties also affect the fleets. 88 percent of fleet managers would accept a contract extension for existing vehicles from the leasing company. In order to maintain mobility and bridge the time until a new vehicle is delivered, 70 percent of fleet managers use their own pool vehicles, and 64 percent say they use cars from car rental companies.

Car subscriptions are used by ten percent and car sharing offers by only four percent as an alternative to maintaining mobility. Eleven percent of fleet managers say they currently have no additional need for interim solutions.

Car subscriptions can benefit to some extent from the delivery difficulties of automobile manufacturers. Currently, 60 percent of fleet managers have already dealt with this topic. This is a significant increase compared to the information from July 2021 (back then it was 41 percent - see photo).

Usage is currently only ten percent. However, the fleet managers do not see this new mobility solution as a replacement: 77 percent do not see the subscription use of a car for a fixed monthly fee as an alternative to the classic leasing contract. In theory, the popularity of the car subscription has actually fallen compared to the previous year (79 percent).
