Pay in the car

From now on, customers in Austria can pay their fuel bill digitally from the vehicle in all vehicles with BMW Operating System 7, 8, 8.5 and 9 at participating gas stations. The payment method used is a credit card that the customer has previously stored in the vehicle via the My BMW app or via the corresponding menu.

In the “Fuel Payments” app, customers can quickly and easily find gas stations in the area where payment from their vehicle is possible by clicking on the “Search gas station” tile. In BMW Maps, when searching for gas stations, both without active route guidance and along the active route, you can check the box for online payment in the settings. This means the customer can get to the gas stations where the function is supported quickly and conveniently. After the engine has been switched off upon arrival at a corresponding gas station, the “Fuel Payments” app offers payment on the central screen. The customer then only has to confirm the gas station, select the pump and complete the process with “Activate and pay now”. He then receives a notification on the central screen and also a push notification via the My BMW app - e.g. B. “Please start the refueling process at pump 8” – and you can refuel as usual. Finally, he receives a confirmation of the fuel quantity and costs on the central screen and can then continue the journey. The customer can track past payments and refueling processes at any time in the app in the vehicle and in the My BMW app.

In many European countries, BMW customers can also pay parking fees directly in the vehicle. This makes parking in paid parking zones in vehicles with BMW Operating System 7, 8, 8.5 and 9 particularly convenient. When you arrive in a parking zone, the vehicle automatically detects whether the service is available and displays the payment function if the parking zone is registered by one of the connected providers. The booking can be easily paid for using the credit card stored in the My BMW app. When the vehicle leaves the parking space again, the parking booking is automatically terminated. The function is also integrated in the My BMW app. In the “Services & Store” tab, customers can end active bookings, view parking history and manage their payment methods. A single account provides access to convenient payment of parking fees and fuel costs: the BMW ConnectedDrive account or the BMW ID. In the vehicle, the customer must log in with their BMW ID and activate the “Parking Payments” and “Fuel Payments” services once. To store the payment method, a QR code is displayed on the central screen in the vehicle so that the payment details can be entered via the smartphone. The BMW Group works with the service provider Parkopedia to process payments.
