Car referendum demands costs down!”
With three specific demands, the initiators are calling for a reduction in the burden on drivers.

Car referendum demands costs down!”
All adult citizens living in Austria can vote in favor of the “Costs Down!” car referendum at any municipal or district office or with a cell phone signature. sign. The three demands:
"A lot of people are dependent on cars and can hardly afford it anymore; they need to be relieved. We have the second highest tax burden in the EU!" argues specialist journalist Gerhard Lustig, the initiator of the car referendum. It is only a small minority that very loudly demonizes the car itself. Lustig is convinced that the majority of the population sees it completely differently. After all, everyone wants to conserve resources and protect the environment, but they also live in a reality in which many people cannot get along without a car. “In times of climate discussion with all its alarmist side effects, the car referendum simply pursues the affordability of the automobile,” explains Lustig. In his opinion, rising inflation, the standard consumption tax as a de facto luxury tax, the mineral oil tax and the new progressive CO2 pricing are simply too much. “The more signatures that support the car referendum,” says Lustig confidently, “the more our concerns will be heard in parliament.”
