Gerhard Müller, head of politics and economics at TÜV Süd, is also president of the International Motor vehicle inspection committee (CITA). Müller has been involved in the World Association of Vehicle Testing Organizations for eleven years. In his role as president, he was able, among other things, to make a significant contribution to making CITA fit for future challenges. After the CITA strategy was revised, measures derived from it were implemented, such as adjusting the membership structure, redesigning the working groups and making them more efficient, increasing the number of international webinars and conferences and expanding political contacts. All of these activities have significantly improved the perception of CITA as an independent vehicle safety expert organization at the political level.

Today, CITA is known as a professional and trustworthy association committed to road safety and environmental protection worldwide. In the next few years, Gerhard Müller wants to work particularly hard to intensify cooperation with global organizations such as the UNECE and the World Bank, to expand exchanges with relevant associations and to organize regular parliamentary events. In addition, CITA will produce further professional studies and position papers on the importance of vehicle testing for road safety and environmental protection and will make suggestions for adapting vehicle testing to modern technologies such as automated driving systems or pollutant-free and climate-neutral drives. "We have to continuously adapt our vehicle testing procedures to technological progress in automobile construction. This is the only way we can ensure that the modern systems, which are very important for traffic safety and environmental protection, function throughout the entire life cycle of a vehicle," explains CITA President moderator Erich Pomassl in the "Autofunk" podcast, which can be heard from March on www.autofunk.at
