Arbö demands: reduce taxes on fuel
The Arbö calls on the federal government to act: “If the federal government actually - as several media reports - the CO2-Delaying fuel pricing from July 1st to October 1st, 2022, this can only be the first step in relieving the burden on Austrian drivers,” said Peter Rezar, President of the ARBÖ federal organization.
Due to the high inflation, it is high time to turn the tax screw: In Germany, the government has already reacted to the high inflation: There, the taxes on fuels were reduced by 35.2 cents per liter for premium gasoline and by 16.7 cents per liter for diesel. The Austrian federal government, on the other hand, insists on reducing the taxes – which already make up around 50 percent of the price of fuel at the pumps – through the anti-social CO2-Prices to be increased again from July 1st. “In the current phase with massive inflation, the federal government is not only allowed to not introduce any new taxes for car drivers, it must also quickly reduce taxes on fuel like in Germany,” the Arbö President concludes.
