Solar car Sion in the endurance test

The Sion is currently being tested on the Applus IDIADA test track. The aim is to complete the accelerated test cycle for endurance testing on the test site with difficult surfaces of various types, which corresponds to a customer mileage of 150,000. These tests test the structural durability of the vehicle. The endurance test is part of the comprehensive and rigorous testing program that the Sion must undergo. The tests are currently being carried out on 18 complete vehicles and several bodyshells in the USA, Germany, Sweden, Italy and Hungary. Sono Motors is making great progress in the Sion's test and series validation program and is technically on track to start pre-series production on schedule in summer 2023.

More than 8,000 people have already supported the ongoing #savesion campaign - be it through a new reservation for a Sion or by increasing their deposit. Currently, the more than 44,000 reservations for the Sion consist of around 21,000 paid B2C reservations, around 22,000 non-binding B2B pre-orders and over 1,000 new reservations from private individuals, which were made together with a deposit promise via the #savesion campaign. In this way, the company is currently recording more than €40 million in new payment commitments from its community. These funds are intended to close the financing gap until the pre-series. There is hope that Sono Motors will achieve its goal of raising a gross sum of around €100 million in the next few weeks through new or increased reservation deposits, investments and other financial support. “Several thousand supporters have already made this campaign one of the largest in Europe, and they are sending a very clear signal: They want the Sion – a cost-effective alternative to bulky, expensive e-SUVs,” said Laurin Hahn, CEO and co-founder of Sono Motors.
