Although the automotive industry is suffering from delivery problems due to a lack of important components, business is still going well. The reason: Customers sometimes have to accept long delivery times, discounts fall and even used car prices rise to high levels.

Porsche boss Oliver Blume, for example, spoke smoothly about the most successful year in the company's history when presenting the business figures for 2021. Sales rose by more than 15 percent to a good 33 billion euros, leaving a profit of 4 billion euros (after 3.2 billion euros the year before).

The company, known for its traditionally lavish special payments, is now promptly paying out a lot to its employees: Porsche is granting a bonus of up to 7,900 euros per employee. That's 50 euros more than last year, as they say in Stuttgart.

Incidentally, the bonus is more than twice as high as that of colleagues from the related Volkswagen Group. The latter received a total of 3,000 euros in special payments for 2021. For the weaker Corona year 2020, VW gave an extra 2,700 euros. However, the value for 2021 was significantly below the level of some previous years: for 2019, for example, the employees at the West German locations who were eligible for the bonus received a bonus of 4,950 euros.

At Porsche, the special payment is, according to company circles, linked to the appeal of the board of directors and the works council to help people who are on the run because of the Russia-Ukraine war.
