New Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Seat
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, has been appointed new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Seat S.A., effective July 8, 2022. been appointed. The appointment is in connection with the latest changes in the group as of July 1, which also include the appointment of Schäfer as a new member of the group board for the Volume brand group, which includes Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Seat / Cupra and Škoda. The common goal: to intensify and accelerate collaboration within the brand group, to exploit synergy potential and to sustainably reduce costs and complexity.
Schäfer succeeds Thomas Schmall as chairman of the supervisory board. Together with CEO Wayne Griffiths, Schäfer will drive the growth of Cupra and the transformation of the company in order to develop Spain into a future hub for electromobility in Europe.
Thomas Schäfer has 30 years of industry experience and has been working for the Volkswagen Group since May 2012.
