Mercedes is serious about e-mobility

Mercedes-Benz is aligning its global production network to produce its repositioned product portfolio with a focus on electric vehicles in the luxury segment.

The premium automotive brand is preparing to go fully electric by the end of the decade - wherever market conditions allow.
The future product portfolio focuses on three product categories: Top End Luxury, Core Luxury and Entry Luxury.

The Mercedes-Benz plants in Sindelfingen, Bremen, Rastatt and Kecskemét will begin producing the new models in the Top End Luxury, Core Luxury and Entry Luxury segments from the middle of the decade.

The Sindelfingen plant is the lead plant in the top-end luxury segment and will produce models of the electric AMG.EA platform from 2025.

The Mercedes-Benz plants in Bremen and Kecskemét will in future produce models of the electric MB.EA platform in Europe.

The Rastatt and Kecskemét plants will produce the repositioned models of the MMA platform from 2024.

As part of the implementation of the Mercedes-Benz Business Plan 2022-2026, the company is investing more than two billion euros in its European production sites. By introducing next-generation electric platforms in production, Mercedes-Benz wants to secure future jobs at its European locations.

The new production order is, among other things, the result of constructive discussions with the German employee representatives. In this context, far-reaching measures to further increase flexibility and increase efficiency at the locations were agreed.
