Milestone for Toyota
Toyota Motor Corporation is setting the next milestone: around 25 years after the introduction of the first Prius, the automobile company has sold more than 20 million electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles worldwide. According to internal Toyota estimates, the electrified model range, which now includes not only hybrid but also plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and pure electric cars, has around 160 million tons of CO2and 65 billion liters of gasoline saved.
On the way to climate neutrality, the company is continuing to expand its product range: By 2025, more than 70 electrified models will be introduced worldwide, including 15 locally emission-free fuel cell and pure electric cars, in order to sell a further 5.5 million electrified vehicles. There are even 30 purely electric car models planned by 2030.
