Is Aston Martin now saved?

Behind the English sports car manufacturer Aston Martin is Aston Martin Lagonda Holding, which is largely in the hands of Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll.

Stroll took over a majority stake in the manufacturer in order to become active in Formula 1. Aston Martin is now firmly integrated there, but is currently driving around in the lower midfield with Stroll's son Lance and Sebastian Vettel as driver (four-time Formula 1 world champion).

Recently we heard a lot of unpleasant things about Aston Martin: high debts, negative financial situation, falling share prices.

Now there is good news: the Saudi Arabian state fund has made a major purchase in Aston Martin. You read about 771 million euros. This makes the state fund the second largest shareholder in Aston Martin with 17 percent. The main shareholder and chairman of the board is still Lawrence Stroll with his Ywe Tree consortium, which holds 18.3 percent of the shares.

Mercedes-Benz is also a major investor. The company holds 9.7 percent of the shares in Aston Martin. The English road sports cars are also powered by Mercedes-AMG engines. The Formula 1 team also relies on the drive power of Mercedes-Benz.

The lavish investment not only seems to ensure the survival of the traditional brand. Aston Martin emphasizes that the financial injection will ensure long-term and sustainable growth in the future.
