Energy discussion at the engine symposium
The 44th International Vienna Engine Symposium focuses on the interaction of different drive systems.

Energy discussion at the engine symposium
From April 26th to 28th, 2023, more than 80 high-ranking experts from science, the automotive industry and the supplier industry will present a wide range of technological and strategic news from the automotive sector to over 1,000 expected participants from more than 25 countries. The CEO of Robert Bosch GmbH, among others, will speak to Stefan Hartung about a technology offensive for more climate protection in road traffic. The energy transition and its consequences for the automotive industry are an important focus of the engine symposium.
The topic of sustainability will continue to keep the industry on its toes in the future: “On the path to climate neutrality in 2050, we will have to use all existing CO2-free technologies and should not rule any out too quickly,” says Bosch Chairman Stefan Hartung, who will be one of the plenary speakers at the 44th International Vienna Motor Symposium. "Climate protection in road traffic requires a technology offensive. In addition to electromobility with batteries and fuel cells, Bosch also continues to rely on highly efficient combustion engines and CO2-free fuels - especially for existing vehicles." Bernhard Geringer, chairman of the Austrian Association for Motor Vehicle Technology (ÖVK) and organizer of the engine symposium, agrees with Stefan Hartung: "When it comes to vehicles, the discussion about individual drive systems doesn't help at all. Regardless of whether it's an electric motor or an internal combustion engine, whether hydrogen, hydrocarbon or electricity, the question has to be, where does the energy come from and are they sustainable sources?" Geringer was able to attract high-ranking speakers for the upcoming symposium, such as Mercedes-Benz Vice President Christoph Starzynski and VW CEO Thomas Schmall, who have been dealing with the topic of the energy transition in the automotive industry for years.
