Trend survey: This brand is ahead when it comes to electric cars

German car manufacturers are clearly ahead in the Austrian car market. The VW brand is in first place for first registrations from January to May 2022. But that's not all. Even if it were a question of purchasing an electric car, every second potential buyer would seriously consider a VW.

Incidentally, men tend more towards the tried and tested: 6 out of 10 car buyers would consider purchasing a Volkswagen, while 44 percent of female buyers would prefer the German car manufacturer. In any case, there is a large gap between them and the other favorites: 23 percent would seriously consider a Tesla, 22 percent would seriously consider an Audi, and 21 percent would seriously consider a Hyundai.

When it comes to the preference of the US car manufacturer Tesla, it turns out that male prospective buyers show a higher affinity for the brand than female ones: While around a third of men would consider buying a Tesla, the brand would only be an option for 14 percent of potential female buyers. People over 50 also show below-average sympathy. Of them, just one in ten would be inclined to become an electric car pioneer.

According to the survey, small models such as an E.Go Life (1 percent), a Smart (2 percent) or a Mini (3 percent) are a niche program. The only exception are the Viennese. In the federal capital, one in ten prospective buyers could imagine purchasing a Smart.

When it comes to how much an electric car can cost, it becomes clear that the willingness to pay is endless. Around a fifth can imagine spending up to 15,000, 20,000 or 25,000 euros. 18 percent say they would pay up to 30,000 euros. Not even one in five could imagine spending more.
