With the award, the German Global Entrepreneurship Center honors technological innovations and entrepreneurial initiatives with a focus on sustainability and climate protection. Stefan Maly, CEO and founder of Cyclingworld Europe, presented the Best Technology Award this year to the company “Joynext” for their solution “V2X for VRU” (Vehicle to Everything for Vulnerable Road Users, i.e. weak road users such as cyclists). With the submitted technology, Joynext, a Dresden-based software development company, is dedicating itself to the topic of road safety. The innovative solution: All road users are directly connected to one another via a mobile phone app and are warned of possible collisions at an early stage. An algorithm recognizes the mode of travel, evaluates the user's direction and speed and uses this data to calculate possible overlap points and potential collisions with other road users. This makes it possible to warn road users early, even if they cannot yet see each other or are obscured by buildings or trees.

The newly developed app by Joynext, in combination with a V2X gadget, helps to avoid accidents. In the future, the technology will also help vehicle drivers orientate themselves in complex traffic situations with a mix of human drivers and autonomous vehicles. “The award is the best proof that our innovative solution is also very important in the bicycle market,” says Hanna Hower, Head of Advanced Engineering at Joynext. On the path to autonomous driving, vehicle data communication with mobile devices such as smartphones, with other vehicles (V2V) or with infrastructure systems (V2X) is becoming increasingly important. Joynext is also involved in the new and further development of cloud-based services. With more than 1,500 employees at seven locations worldwide, Joynext is a direct supplier to the automotive industry and has been a development partner and system supplier to well-known automobile manufacturers for over 20 years.
