Bosch relies on AI

Bosch is accelerating in the application and further development of artificial intelligence: the technology company plans to invest more than 2.5 billion euros in AI by the end of 2027. It is an innovation booster and growth driver for Bosch products and services: it makes automated driving safer, it reliably tests quality in production and it makes everyday life easier for consumers at work, in their free time and at home. “The breakthroughs in AI make it possible to open completely new chapters in technology, to advance the development of innovations even faster and to turn them into business,” says Stefan Hartung, Chairman of the Bosch Management Board. Bosch got into the technology early on, bringing together AI and deep industrial knowledge and now achieving a clear competitive advantage. In addition, the company has filed patents for more than 1,500 inventions in the field of AI in the past five years - a record number in Europe.

Automated driving

Bosch wants to take advantage of the advantages of AI, for example, in assisted and automated driving. Even if the dynamics in this area are not yet fully developed, the long-term market success of automated driving for Bosch is beyond question. The company offers the right solutions for this and is confident: Bosch sales of software, sensors, high-performance computers and network components are expected to double by the mid-2030s - to well over ten billion euros. Bosch uses AI in automated driving, for example for environmental perception and trip planning. Thanks to AI, the vehicle thinks ahead, anticipates how other road users will behave and calculates the next steps to get to your destination safely. AI not only ensures greater safety in the vehicle, it also helps to significantly shorten development times for new products. For example, Bosch can rely on a unique base of vehicle sensor data that can be used to feed generative AI - and train systems much faster and more efficiently. This means that even more reliable driving assistants and automated driving functions can be implemented in the future.
