Strong demand for driving training

The ÖAMTC Driving Technique is still the most popular contact point for those new to driving licenses in multi-phase training. "People trust in our high ÖAMTC quality standard. So, in keeping with the 20th anniversary of the successful multi-phase training, we were able to welcome the 750,000th participant in ÖAMTC driving technology in July 2023," says Karl-Martin Studener, managing director of ÖAMTC driving technology. “Modern technology is making vehicles increasingly safer, but it has physical limits that you have to know, experience and train,” explains Studener.

In 2023, 11,500 participants completed the mandatory professional driver training for trucks or buses (C/D95). Training courses for the safe handling of tractors were also frequently booked. “The cycle of legally required further training ends for many driving license holders in 2024 – we therefore recommend registering as soon as possible,” informs Studener. Furthermore, the ÖAMTC Driving Technology Professional Driver Academy offers full training for prospective truck and bus drivers who are already employed by a company. For example, Austrian Post and Spar AG made use of this vocational training last year. The police, fire brigade, rescue organizations and the armed forces also relied on ÖAMTC Fahrtechnik's professional training courses in 2023 and had their employees trained or further trained in the eight centers.

The solid infrastructure of the ÖAMTC driving technology centers was used by a number of manufacturers and dealers for vehicle presentations and tests in 2023 - including Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Subaru, VW, Aston Martin, BMW, BYD, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Continental, Nokian Tires, Michelin and the ZKW Group. In particular, the Wachauring in Melk and the handling track at the Experience Center in Saalfelden were the venue for extensive testing and exciting incentives. These include, for example, the events “Austria's Safest Motorcyclist”, the “She's Mercedes Lady Day”, the “Ford Racing Rookie”, the “FIA Region I Best Young Driver Contest”, the “E-Mobility Days”, the “eMOKON” specialist conference and the Arge2Rad motorcycle test days. To ensure sustainable use of the environment and resources, ÖAMTC Fahrtechnik continually invests in the expansion of photovoltaic systems and e-charging stations.
