The best painters in the world

The special edition of the WorldSkills 2022 competition took place from October 18th to 22nd at College360, the largest education and training institution in Silkeborg, Denmark. Thirteen of the world's best painters competed against each other in various disciplines over four days. "We were delighted that the brightest young talents in vehicle painting found their way to Silkeborg. With their passion and determination, they are a role model for us all," said Simon Neergaard-Holm, CEO, WorldSkills Denmark. “All finalists and especially the winners will be celebrated at WorldSkills Denmark for their achievements and enthusiasm – as they represent an outstanding generation of young talent in the industry.” The vehicle painting winners are Victor Berthelier from France and Jongyun Kim from Korea, who tied for first place and each received a gold medal. Craig Kennedy from the United Kingdom came third and was honored with the bronze medal.

A series of tailored webinars were made available to the refinishing talents and country experts, introducing the refinish paints, processes and color matching solutions from Glasurit, BASF's premium refinish brand. The finalists were trained in a hybrid format by Glasurit experts in the countries and had access to all product and process data in the Glasurit platform, which is one of the most comprehensive knowledge bases for refinishing in the industry and includes e-books and video training. “As an official global industry partner of WorldSkills, Glasurit is proud to be part of this special edition of WorldSkills in Denmark and to fully support young talents in turning their professional ambitions into reality,” says Roar Solberg, Vice President BASF Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions, Europe, Middle East and Africa. "With our training programs, we help young painters achieve excellent results in a sustainable manner. The industry attaches great importance to reducing emissions, protecting the environment, reducing resource consumption and producing less waste."
