Young talent at Steyr Automotive
A total of seven professional sectors are offered at the Steyr Automotive training center, the largest in the region. The traditional roots of the Upper Austrian training workshop go back to 1922. Vocational training at this location is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. A team of twelve people is currently supporting around 300 apprentices over four years. Well-known companies and institutions cooperate with this established training institution, including AVL List, BFI OÖ, BMW, Magna, Steyr Arms and ZF.
The young girls and boys are trained in the areas of metal technology, automotive technology, mechatronics, electrical engineering, operational logistics, process technology and mechanical engineering technology. Of the 44 newcomers, 24 will be trained for the Steyr Automotive plant itself, 14 for SKF Austria, 3 for CNH Industrial Austria and 3 for GFM Steyr, who, as long-term training partners, trust in the high level of training provided by this training workshop. After a celebratory opening event and a tour of the future workplaces and production halls, we went to the adventure camp in Spital am Pyhrn for an action-packed team building training. There the young people gained their first team experience on an orientation hike, on a course in the forest ropes course, in building a “vehicle from the Stone Age” and at the end in a cozy campfire.
