New foremen at the start
The technical-commercial evening school TGA of the BFI Vienna drew impressive conclusions after the first year at the new location in Meidling.

New foremen at the start
103 new foremen in electrical engineering, 11 in automotive technology and 25 in mechanical engineering - that is the impressive balance of the first school year of the BFI Vienna's technical-commercial evening school (TGA) at the new location in Vienna's 12th district. “By moving to Johann-Hoffmann-Platz 9, we were able to create a modern infrastructure that offers optimal conditions for practical technical training,” explains BFI Vienna Managing Director Franz-Josef Lackinger. "Thanks to the tireless efforts of our colleagues, the change of location was implemented smoothly during the summer holidays - and without any disruption to the students. An excellent performance by the entire team and a significant step towards the future for everyone."
Double burden mastered
A total of 72 graduates completed their two-year training with excellent or good results. The requirements were high: "Four evenings per week, four teaching units each - in addition to regular work during the day. Anyone who masters this over two years not only demonstrates professional competence, but also endurance, discipline and determination," emphasizes TGA director Martin Schilk. With the state-recognized master craftsman certificate, graduates not only acquire in-depth technical know-how, but also new professional opportunities - such as the right to practice a trade independently, to train apprentices and to attend a university of education.
Green Tech skills
Given the continued importance of climate-relevant technologies, graduates have the best prospects. “Especially in the green tech sector, classic skills in construction, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and automotive technology are still in high demand and are increasingly seen as crisis-proof skills,” says Lackinger. “Our foremen and foremen bring these skills with them – and are also able to pass them on to the next generation of skilled workers as trainers.” With the new location at Johann-Hoffmann-Platz, the TGA is ideally positioned for future challenges. The new location offers spacious workshops, modern training rooms and an optimized infrastructure for evening classes in all disciplines. “New address, proven quality – and even more potential for the future,” Lackinger concluded.
