Euro Skills 2023 opened

The spectacular show in Gdansk's Polsat Arena marks the starting point of the first professional European Championships on Polish soil. At the neighboring AmberExpo, around 600 specialists from 32 nations are currently vying for precious metals. There are 44 participants from Austria in 38 professions - they want to further expand their supremacy as the most successful professional nation in Europe. Despite strong competition. Europe's best skilled workers in professions such as building construction, bakery, web development, beauty care, mechatronics, machining technology & Co. from 32 nations opened the eighth European Championship, the first on Polish soil, with the traditional flag parade. The sea of flags was opened by red and white - and also decided: Due to the alphabet, Team Austria - with flag bearer Johannes Bojer, agricultural and construction machinery technician from Semriach - marched in at the beginning of the event, host Poland ended the parade, which was accompanied by music from DJs.

44 local representatives fight for precious metal in 38 professions. “Austria is truly a world power when it comes to skilled workers in industry, crafts and services and I am confident that we will show this again with our Team Austria,” said Youth State Secretary Claudia Plakolm. For Skills Austria President Josef Herk it is clear: “Our aces have been preparing for this international competition for months and have trained hard for this moment - now it depends on the highest level of competence, nerve and the luck of the capable ones.” The latter was achieved at the 2021 European Championships: At the home European Championships in Graz, the then 54-strong team won 33 medals - eleven of them gold, twelve silver and ten bronze. However, Skills Austria managing director Jürgen Kraft does not want to allow any pressure to succeed: "In the months of preparation, our participants have already proven that they are already real champions: They have expanded their technical skills, have learned a lot mentally - and have often gone to the extreme in countless training sessions. Everyone who starts here can already feel like a winner."
