The director's farewell

At his farewell party, which took place at the same time as the annual graduation ceremony of the Siegfried Marcus vocational school in Vienna Floridsdorf, high school councilor Markus Fuchs, school quality manager Thomas Bäuerl, his assistant Renate Holub and the teachers Norbert Brezina, Walter Redl and Gerhard Schöller also said goodbye to retirement. Numerous well-wishers came to the celebration, including representatives of the district, the Chamber of Commerce, the Vienna Education Directorate as well as the state guild and the state parliament, as well as partners and partner companies and of course colleagues.

Markus Fuchs took up his position as director in 2001 with 630 students and 22 teachers; today there are 1,535 students and around 70 teachers. Markus Fuchs: “Out of 1,535 students and 112 classes last year, over 600 students started the first classes, and it was always important to me to get to know them personally.” The Vienna State Guild Master Georg Ringseis presented the outgoing director with a certificate in the name of the Vienna State Guild with the words: "I was able to get to know you as a supporter of the State Guild, a supporter of the profession, of the youth, but also you personally as a person with your commitment and support. We would certainly not be where Vienna is today in education if you had not been so committed." Ferdinand Fischer, chairman of the motorcycle trade, added: “Everyone could sense that this was not a job but a calling!”
