“This includes, for example, the registration of vehicles when they are economically necessary, as well as vehicles that are used to maintain the supply of food or everyday goods, or vehicles that have to be used to maintain public safety or healthcare, or the de-registration of vehicles and the deposit of license plates if compelling economic reasons make this necessary,” explains Thomas Kogler, main person responsible for the registration office at Garanta Versicherungs-AG Österreich. After it is no longer possible to enter the registration office, customers must contact the insurer or the registration office in advance by telephone or other electronic means of communication in order to agree on an individual procedure. Insurance companies will publish this in an appropriate form (website, notice in registration offices, etc.). “Of course, emergency operation not only applies to customers of the respective insurance company, but is also available to customers who are insured with other insurance companies,” says Kogler.
