Würth: Short-time work for 900 employees

Würth Austria responded immediately to the measures taken by the Austrian federal government. A crisis team around the management meets daily to continually coordinate measures to protect employees and suppliers, but also to ensure supplies to active customers in Austria. Since mid-March, all employees whose area of responsibility allows it have been working from home.

In accordance with the federal government's guidelines, all 54 Austrian Würth shops are closed, but urgently needed goods are handed out in contactless goods handover zones in the Würth shops after pre-ordering. This excludes branches in quarantine regions. The opening of new shops in Linz (Upper Austria) and Telfs (Tyrol) planned for April and May has been postponed for the time being.

Würth Austria expects a decline in sales of up to 60 percent for the duration of short-time work. The sales of 220.7 million achieved in the 2019 financial year will not be achieved in 2020. Managing Director Alfred Wurmbrand: "As of April 1st, we will initially reduce our employees' working hours for three months, but we of course hope that we can leave the short-time working model sooner. I am happy and grateful that there is such a strong team spirit and cohesion in the company as I have experienced in the last few days and I hope that we can overcome this critical situation together and emerge stronger from it."
