Viennese vehicle trade demands eco-premium

"Politicians must not waste any time so that Austria can emerge from the Corona crisis with momentum and the economy can pick up speed again. To do this, consumers need a clear signal that domestic demand is being strengthened," explains Ernst. An eco-premium for new vehicles is “a successful instrument for overcoming the crisis”. "We had good experiences during the financial and economic crisis in 2009. This is now a big advantage because the bonus can be introduced quickly and without lengthy bureaucratic preparation. Consumers should be able to use the bonus as early as May," says the LGO of the Vienna vehicle trade.

Opportunity for environmental protection”

In addition, an eco-bonus is also a great opportunity for environmental protection. Serious; “We should definitely use this crisis to improve the ecological balance of the vehicle fleet in Austria.” If consumers decide to buy a new vehicle and have their old car (emissions classes EURO 0 – 2) scrapped at the same time, they should receive a bonus of 1,500 euros. Ernst advocates a bonus of 3,000 euros for electric vehicles and vehicles with environmentally friendly drive engines. "The economy, consumers and the environment benefit from an eco-premium. The federal government should therefore make this win-win situation possible quickly," demands Ernst.
