How plastic bottles become practical carpets”.

With the GreenMats, CWS is introducing a new sustainable product in the area of floor care (CWS Hygiene). The new CWS GreenMats are particularly powerful and durable dirt trapping mats whose high-twist yarn is made exclusively from recycled polyester. Around ten discarded PET bottles per square meter are meaningfully reused, which will correspond to a recycling volume of more than one million PET bottles annually. In addition, a newly developed rubber mixture is used on the back of the mat, which is completely phthalate-free, i.e. free of rubber softeners.

The advantages of a dirt trapping mat are as simple as they are important: They prevent dirt and moisture from being carried into buildings and thus ensure hygiene and safety. The use of dirt control mats also has economic advantages for property operators. By trapping dirt and moisture early, cleaning costs can be significantly reduced, moisture damage prevented and the lifespan of floors extended. Mats also score points from a safety perspective: around 20 percent of reportable work accidents are due to slips or falls. "However, the decisive factor for hygiene, safety and cost reduction is that the mats used are also functional. Many dirt trapping mats no longer fully fulfill their purpose because they wear out after a few weeks. However, they are fully reactivated during regular washing services and functionality is therefore always guaranteed," says Alexander Glatzer, Product Manager at CWS.
