Hydrogen instead of diesel
Automotive supplier Mahle invested two million euros in a new test center for hydrogen applications.

Hydrogen instead of diesel
Mahle recently opened a new 1,400 square meter test center for hydrogen applications at its Stuttgart location and is already planning further expansion. Components for fuel cells and engines for vehicles that run on hydrogen with zero local emissions are tested on the test benches. Mahle traditionally has strong competencies in the areas of air management, filtration, thermal management and power electronics. The technology group already has around 100 employees working on hydrogen-related projects in Stuttgart. “Our new hydrogen testing center is a significant step and another example of a successful transformation project from Mahle,” says Martin Berger, Head of Group Research and Advanced Development at Mahle. “Until recently, only conventional combustion engines were tested here.”
