Due to the Corona crisis, disinfectants experienced an unexpected level of hype. The focus is on manufacturers such as Clorox, Eclolab, Bode Chemie and the hygiene product manufacturer Essity, which, in addition to Tempo tissues, also has the Tork brand in its portfolio, which in turn sells toilet paper and hand disinfection products. One thinks less of an oil company. In this respect, it comes as a bit of a surprise that the local OMV is now bringing a hand hygiene product onto the market. On closer inspection, of course, this makes sense. After all, OMV is also a chemical company and its gas station network has extensive outlets throughout Austria.
Customers obviously have a need: "The health of our customers and employees is top priority. We already took comprehensive measures during the lockdown in March and April, which we are consistently implementing. With the launch of the hand hygiene gel under the OMV own brand, we are supporting our customers in maintaining this safety. The new hygiene gel is available at all 210 gas stations in Austria," says Wilfried Gepp, head of the gas station business in Austria.
A high level of hygiene, like maintaining a safe distance, is part of the new normal. Cleaning hands and touched surfaces thoroughly and regularly is a constant topic of conversation. Both, sufficient distance from other people and thorough hand hygiene, are actually still the most effective protective measures against infections.
Cleaning and care of hands
OMV is supporting these measures with the market entry of its new own product, which ensures hygienic cleaning and active care of hands without any water. Once applied, the Hand Hygiene Gel should be rubbed onto the hands for 30 seconds, covering the entire surface including the creases between fingers and nails to achieve the best effect. According to the manufacturer, the gentle, fresh scent and the glycerin it contains to moisturize the skin ensure a pleasant feeling. “Due to its practical packaging format, OMV hand hygiene gel is the best choice for the car, handbag or any occasion on the go,” says OMV.
