The new Golf 8 is a beacon of hope for VW and the important model in the portfolio. So it's no wonder that VW is releasing technical fireworks on every corner with the latest generation. The focus of market communication is the new digital offensive: The Golf comes with consistently digitized displays and controls. There is also a hybrid offensive: buyers can choose from five hybrid versions (eTSI and plug-in hybrid). The issue of safety was also a focus, making the Golf the first VW with Car2X communication as standard.
"For seven generations, the Golf has impressed more than 35 million customers. A new Golf is expected to set the standard throughout the entire automotive industry," explained Herbert Diess, CEO of Volkswagen AG. Technically, the Golf is making the biggest leap since the series debuted. Ralf Brandstätter, COO of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, adds: "This car is completely new, but of course a Golf remains a Golf because its basic idea is timeless. This car has shaped our brand for decades. With the Golf we have always democratized new technologies and innovations."
