VW Caddy starts its 5th generation

For the first time, the VW Caddy is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB), as used in the Golf 8. This gives it new features such as the turning assistant 'Travel Assist' and networked infotainment and digitalized operating systems. At the same time, the space available in the all-rounder has been increased. Depending on the version, VW will be offering 4Motion all-wheel drive in parallel to front-wheel drive from spring 2021 - this also applies to the Caddy California. The new, independent Caddy PanAmericana will also come onto the market in 2021 - a crossover between a van and an SUV. The maxi versions of the Caddy (station wagon, van) and Caddy California will also follow next year. The passenger car and station wagon versions are offered with five seats as standard; a third row of seats can be ordered as an option. The Caddy's new four-cylinder engines are equipped with particle filters throughout. The three 55 kW (75 hp), 75 kW (102 hp) and 90 kW (122 hp) TDI engines use the new 'twin dosing' with two SCR catalytic converters and double AdBlue injection for the first time, which significantly reduce nitrogen oxide emissions compared to its predecessor. At the same time, a turbo petrol engine with 84 kW (114 hp) is available. A turbocharged natural gas engine and a plug-in hybrid are also expected to follow.
