Production will be suspended until April 19 in the German factories of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volkswagen Group Components brands.
Volkswagen extends production break
The group is reacting to the falling demand for vehicles and the ongoing challenges in the supply chain. For a total of around 80,000 Volkswagen AG employees, the associated short-time work is to end with the night shift from April 19th to 20th.
Andreas Tostmann, Board Member for Logistics and Production at the Volkswagen brand, emphasized: "The health of our employees is our top priority. We are making good progress with work on a very comprehensive package for a gradual ramp-up of production, which also includes a number of additional measures regarding hygiene or distances between employees on the production line."
