Vienna Auto Show: Here we go
Today the trade fair opens its doors to the general public. Yesterday's start to the trade fair shows that the mood is good.

Vienna Auto Show: Here we go
The year 2018 was – measured in terms of new registrations – the third best car year in history. Yesterday's press conference was accordingly relaxed and joyful. Transport Minister Norbert Hofer once again signaled a car-friendly attitude and would like to abolish the NoVA and at the same time create incentives to move towards a CO2-to be able to switch to neutral mobility. Much to the delight of federal committee lobbyist Klaus Edelsbrunner and importer spokesman Günther Kerle. However, both interest groups are pushing for the tax to be abolished today rather than tomorrow, as its calculation has become far too complicated - especially due to the switch to WLTP. Both the transport minister and stakeholders are cautiously positive about the 2019 car year. Klaus Edelsbrunner emphasizes that he expects 2019 to be a consolidation year with around 320,000 new registrations, but thanks the government for the clear statement that there will be no diesel driving bans in Austria. This corresponds to the first discussions we had at the Vienna Auto Show yesterday. Much praise for the government's more positive attitude towards cars. According to widespread opinion in the industry, only the WLTP changeover would have massively hindered sales in the fourth quarter. Yesterday afternoon the Vienna Auto Show was already very well attended by dealers and their top customers.
This year's Vienna Auto Show includes over 400 new models from 40 car brands as well as concept and show cars as well as two European and two dozen Austrian premieres. A highlight of 2019 is the new e-mobility area, in which the topic of e-mobility is examined from various facets. Also new is the SUV and off-road testing area between exhibition halls C and D, where ÖAMTC Farhtechnik demonstrates what modern SUV and off-road models can achieve.
