Upgrade for Porsche’s moon base”

The “Moon Power” brand, a subsidiary of Porsche Holding Salzburg, was founded in 2019 with the aim of making electromobility commonplace and widespread. Just as the moon landing in 1969 marked the dawn of a new era, the founding of Moon Power marked the dawn of the age of e-mobility. Moon Power offers the entire spectrum of electromobility, from wallboxes including home storage and photovoltaic systems to quick charging stations, is now represented in 24 countries and sees itself as an architect of intelligent energy solutions. With the “MoonCity” in Salzburg, a competence and experience center was opened at MoonPower’s headquarters at the end of 2019, which provided educational work for new mobility according to the motto “Edutainment for everyone”. The multifunctional location is now a highly frequented charging park and a successful event location with more than 500 events and conferences since it opened.

The MoonCity concept was implemented in an adapted form in many places. Advice on the topic of e-mobility and charging always plays a central role. Examples include the Vienna locations (currently occupied by Audi as the “House of Progress”) as well as Budapest, Ljubljana, Bratislava, Bucharest and Zagreb. Wilfried Weitgasser, Managing Director of Porsche Austria: "Now it is important to take the next step. In a transformation phase you not only have to live change, but above all you have to listen carefully to the customers. That was and is important to us - all the findings were incorporated into the redesign of MoonCity." The new interior concept of MoonCity 2.0 is based on the idea of a light and dark side of the moon. The “bright side” is used as an inviting lounge area, the darkened side for presentations, seminars and events of all kinds. Markus Tatzer, Managing Director of Moon Power: “With the newly designed MoonCity Salzburg, we are not only creating Austria’s largest inner-city fast-charging park, but from January 18th we are expanding our competence center on Sterneckstrasse to include additional services such as a spacious lounge area and test drives.”

With the digital personality “Luna Starlight”, MoonCity guests now have a real AI as their contact person. Luna entertains guests in the lounge area while charging and provides chat GPT-based information and answers to questions. In real life, however, test drives with current electric models from the Volkswagen Group brands are now possible in MoonCity Salzburg. For example, the new VW ID.7, the Škoda Enyaq, Cupra Born, Audi Q8 e-tron or VW ID BUZZ are available. Three AC stations with six charging points and seven DC stations with 13 charging points are available to charge the vehicles.
