Turbo for electromobility
The Austrian federal government wants to use the new communication platform “Stele” to promote the ramp-up of electromobility including integration into the power grid.

Turbo for electromobility
With the gradual conversion of private and commercial vehicle fleets to electric drives, the need for charging infrastructure is growing. The new “Stele” platform launched by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI) is intended to promote exchange between distribution network operators, logistics companies, transport companies, charging infrastructure operators and other key players. The official kickoff takes place today as part of the BMIMI's 2nd mobility conference. The aim is to bring together players from electromobility, energy and infrastructure in order to jointly design network integration, especially for heavy commercial vehicles and buses. Stele was initiated by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure and is being implemented on behalf of and with funds from the Climate and Energy Fund. The development is carried out by an international consortium.
Commitment to e-mobility
Federal Minister Peter Hanke is committed to the mobility transition: "In order to master the associated challenges and to remain competitive in Austria as a location, a future-proof infrastructure is needed. This applies in particular to the expansion of e-mobility. Investments in this must be targeted and tailored to needs. It is therefore all the more important to network the relevant players and to create a central platform for everyone involved with Stele." Bernd Vogl, Managing Director of the Climate and Energy Fund, adds: "With the Stele project, we want to ensure a structured exchange between network operators and large consumers of e-mobility and enable optimal integration of electromobility requirements into the power grid. Our goal is to work in a practical manner and, with Stele, to make a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of heavy transport and the stability of the power grid." Behind STELE is an international consortium that combines technical expertise with regional roots. The consortium consists of the Reiner Lemoine Institute (Berlin), the Graz Energy Agency, UIV Urban Innovation Vienna (Vienna), Kairos (Bregenz) and Localiser (Berlin).
