Toyota's new European boss

Matt Harrison, neuer CEO von Toyota Motor Europe.

Matt Harrison will be the new President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe. The Briton will succeed Johan van Zyl, who held this position for six years, on April 1, 2021. As chairman, the native South African will concentrate fully on Toyota South Africa Motors - a task that he has carried out personally since 2015, even after moving to Brussels.

With Matt Harrison, an experienced leader is taking over - also as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Europe region at Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. Harrison joined Toyota in 2000 and has held various positions. He headed Lexus Europe from 2008 before becoming managing director of Toyota in Great Britain in 2013. In 2015, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing before being promoted to Executive Vice President at TME in 2019.

Matt Harrison will lead Toyota's ongoing transformation in Europe from an automotive to a mobility company. One goal is to increase sales to 1.4 million units by 2025, which will be made possible by the market launch of ten electric cars and at least five new plug-in hybrid vehicles as well as the further expansion of the hybrid range.
