Toyota increases market share

The corona virus has had a massive social and economic impact on Austria. The automobile trade and registration offices were closed in mid-March. The new registrations will therefore be in Austria in Marchfell by 66.7%– 10,654 new registrations were registered, instead of 31,958 new registrations in March 2019. The cumulative picture hardly changes –minus 32.4% compared to 2019, corresponds to 54,680 units in new registrations from January to March 2020 compared to 80,855 units in the same period last year.

There were also sharp declines at Toyota in March: 293 vehicles were newly registered (-46.7%), although the market share climbed to 2.8%. In addition, there are cumulative declines: 1,195 new registrations mean a decrease of 5.6% compared to the first quarter of 2019. In terms of market share, Toyota also recorded cumulative increases and reached 2.2% (+0.6 percentage points).
The hybrid models continue to generate volume at Toyota, both in terms of new registrations and sales. The hybrid share at Toyota remains just under 60%. After the first three months, the hybrid proportions in the C-HR and RAV4 models are particularly high: the C-HR has a hybrid proportion of over 90%, the RAV4 over 80%. The Yaris and Corolla models follow with over 60% each.
