Toyota increases profits

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has announced financial results for the past fiscal year (April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020). Despite the weak last quarter due to Corona, the Japanese automobile group was able to maintain consolidated vehicle sales worldwide at almost 8.96 million units at the previous year's level (-0.2 percent).
Group sales fell slightly by 1.0 percent to around 247.36 billion euros in the past twelve months, and operating profit also fell by one percent to 20.19 billion euros. In the same period, profit before taxes climbed by 11.8 percent to 21.11 billion euros, and net profit rose by 10.3 percent to almost 17.16 billion euros.
In Europe, Toyota Motor Corporation recorded further growth in the past financial year: sales in the region climbed by almost 3.5 percent to 1.03 million units. Operating profit improved by 161.98 million to 1.16 billion euros.

For the new fiscal year ending March 31, 2021, Toyota expects consolidated vehicle sales of seven million units. Sales are expected to be 208.7 billion euros, and the company also expects an operating result of 4.35 billion euros. Profit forecasts are not possible in the current situation.
