Toyota continues to grow

In November 2021, domestic new car registrations fell again: minus 12.6 percent compared to November 2020, meaning 17,519 new car registrations. As the monthly result continues to decline, the cumulative result also slips into the red. With 222,155 new registrations, the current year is 1.3 percent below the previous year (2020: 224,968 new registrations).

Light commercial vehicles (N1) also recorded a decline of minus 12.6 percent in November. This was to be expected due to legal changes (NoVA). The cumulative increase is still 66.6 percent. In absolute numbers, this is 2,774 new registrations in October and 56,084 after the first eleven months of 2021.

In the new car market that continues to decline, Toyota was able to increase its market share to 3.2 percent in November. New car registrations are at 553. There is also a significant cumulative increase compared to the same period last year: 2.6 percent cumulative market share corresponds to +0.3 percentage points compared to the previous year. The statistics show a cumulative total of 5,844 vehicles (+14.3 percent) for new registrations.

In November, Toyota achieved a 2.5 percent market share and 71 new registrations for light commercial vehicles in class N1 (up to 3,500 kg total weight). Cumulatively, 3.1 percent market share was achieved with 1,755 new Toyota N1 registrations.

All-electric model offensive

On the way to CO2Toyota is launching its model offensive with neutrality: the manufacturer will introduce 30 electric cars worldwide by 2030. Global sales of fully electric vehicles are expected to increase to 3.5 million units. Europe is one of the key markets: Lexus will become the exclusive electric provider in the region by 2030, Toyota will only offer zero-emission vehicles from 2035. In addition to environmentally friendly hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Toyota is focusing on CO2-neutral fuel cell and electric cars. First up is the compact Toyota bZ4X. The electric SUV developed jointly with Subaru will roll out to Europe next year and marks the start of a fully electric model family. A medium-sized and a large SUV with three rows of seats as well as a small crossover complement the “bZ” series.
