Toyota is accelerating in production

Toyota is going full throttle again and increasing production: The Japanese car manufacturer is expected to produce 800,000 vehicles in December 2021. Compared to the same month last year, this corresponds to an increase of more than five percent. As a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic and the shortage of parts in the industry, there have been production adjustments since August. This is now over, as the company announces.

All 14 factories and 28 production lines in Japan are working normally again, which, according to the manufacturer, is also thanks to the close cooperation with suppliers. For the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, the company continues to expect production of nine million units worldwide.

Strong supply chain

In response to the ongoing shortage of some parts, Toyota is working with its suppliers to further strengthen the supply chain. The goal: to deliver as many cars as possible to customers.

"With the increase in production, we will be able to serve our customers' high demand even better and give our retailers further confidence. We have had great demand for hybrid vehicles and a high order backlog in Austria for months. But we have good availability, especially for our bestsellers," says Heiko Twellmann, Managing Director of Toyota Austria GmbH.

Toyota has learned a lot from its experiences with natural disasters in the past and realized how vulnerable and important supply chains are. “This has resulted in us increasing our safety stocks and maintaining a very collaborative and collaborative relationship with our global supply partners.”
