After internal quality tests last year revealed that the first batch of DON car brake pads (production period May - September 2018) achieved lower than the defined braking performance under certain conditions, they were immediately recalled.
The affected products were brought onto the market in July 2018 and the recall took place in October 2018. In some applications, they may not achieve the defined braking performance under certain conditions. This may result in a reduced braking effect.
The friction lining manufacturer used all communication channels to provide its distribution network with comprehensive information. With success, there are no longer any toppings from the affected batch on the market. In order to achieve the maximum return rate, workshops should check whether there are still brake pads from the abnormal batch in their DON inventory. Drivers who bought new brake pads from a parts store between July and October 2018 should also check this themselves or have their workshop check it. TMD Friction also calls on workshops to identify customers with affected vehicles and to contact them to replace the brake pads. Identifying the affected products is very easy:

• On the packaging, the words “Everyday Brakes” are missing from the white data field under the DON logo, see Fig. 1. Packaging that bears this lettering corresponds 100% to the specifications

• The batch number can be found on the back plate of the covering, see Fig. 2. The affected numbers range from 180202 – 181017

Workshops that are unsure can always ask their trading partner or TMD Friction. The field staff can be approached on site about this topic. Replacement and replacement costs will be covered by TMD Friction. Drivers who are not sure whether affected brake pads have been installed in their vehicle should contact their workshop.
