Tire Cologne: Study shows massive changes in the tire business
"We see ourselves as part of the industry and want to show the solutions for the constant market changes, with the aim of providing sustainable impetus for industry development. That is the benchmark we set ourselves. This year we initiated a study in five European core markets, the results of which give all market participants a better understanding of the function of the respective markets and the challenges there. Based on the results of the study, every retailer can now check where they are in our follow-up "FitforFuture test". and what adjustments he can work on," says Christoph Werner, Head of Trade Fair Management and member of the Koelnmesse management team. The Tire Cologone will take place from June 9th to 12th, 2020 and is aimed at tire manufacturers, tire specialist retailers, automotive service providers, workshop suppliers, recycling, retreaders and all companies associated with the tire and automotive segment. The international industry trade fair is organized by Koelnmesse as well as the Federal Association of Tire Trade and Vulcanization Crafts e.V. (BRV) as an ideal sponsor.
The most important study results in brief
Digitalization poses challenges for the tire trade - the European tire trade is in a state of upheaval. This is driven by changing customer behavior. Tire retail customers have significantly higher expectations of service than in the past and expect communication on all channels with coordinated sales and service offers. Digitalization is also changing and is challenging one sector after another - the tire trade must keep pace with the general digital transformation. The associated challenges are predominantly recognized and tend to be evaluated in relation to the opportunities. However, there is still some lack of implementation. The reason: The tire trade is not daring enough. The wide range of digital tools has not yet been used consistently. In addition, megatrends are classified as science fiction without looking for their own advantages in the here and now.
