Refuel with a clear conscience: OMV’s green thumb
Unexpected things often happen. A lot is different in 2021 and so it is not surprising that an oil company is now promoting climate-neutral driving and refueling.

Refuel with a clear conscience: OMV’s green thumb

As part of the “climate-neutral driving” initiative, OMV is launching a cross-border campaign to offset emissions that arise as a result of mobility behavior. After the successful pilot phase in 2020, both private and business customers in Austria can now refuel climate-neutrally with OMV.
"We as OMV have been supporting people to be mobile for 30 years now. As part of our responsibility as a company, we maintain this security of supply and try to offset the emissions that arise from the combustion of diesel or gasoline and cannot be avoided," says Wilfried Gepp, Head of OMV's gas station business in Austria: "With this commitment, we want to give our customers the opportunity to cover their individual fuel consumption in a climate-neutral way in order to counteract climate change."
In collaboration with ClimatePartner, a leading climate protection solutions company, OMV supports climate protection projects, such as reforestation measures in Uruguay or a project to promote wind energy in Bulgaria.
Under the umbrella of “climate-neutral driving”, OMV offers private customers and companies the opportunity to neutralize their CO2 footprint at OMV filling stations. Customers can use their “jö card” to indicate their desire for climate-neutral driving or CO2 compensation at the checkout after the usual refueling process. For this purpose, 20 Ös are used to offset the emissions caused by consuming an average tank of around 50 liters. In doing so, OMV then supports a certified climate protection project on behalf of its customers that saves the same amount of emissions.
CO2 compensation for a greener vehicle fleet
OMV offers all companies CO2 compensation for all liters filled with fuel or individual compensation for a desired amount of liters using the OMV Climate Neutral Card. Using the ClimatePartner customer portal, companies and every driver in the vehicle fleet can track the amount of carbon dioxide neutralized.
