Suzuki Jimny: A horse for leisure Indians

Feel: Right angles, large windows and a steep windshield give a pleasant feeling of space in the front seats, the fittings are easy to read, and all controls are easily accessible without contortions thanks to the narrow chassis. Unfortunately, the steering wheel can only be adjusted in height, but the seating position proves to be sufficiently comfortable even on longer journeys.

Drive: The Jimny is by nature not a sprinter, but thanks to the clean gears and low weight you can keep up with motorway traffic without stress. Cruising in the city is fun according to the motto: The spice is in brevity. In fast corners on country roads or at speeds above 120 km/h, subjectively you feel insecure because of the narrow, long chassis, but objectively the road holding is problem-free. On short rides over unpaved paths, the Jimny proves to be a real climber thanks to the differential lock.

Load: Two passengers in the back seats made it through a two-hour trip without complaining, although they complained about the lack of storage space for their handbags. There is practically no trunk space with the seats up, but with the backrests folded down there is a practical and spacious cargo space for luggage for two people.  

Conclusion: With its charming, robust outfit, the Jimny is recommended as a third vehicle for people living on the outskirts, as a first car for new drivers or as a universal vehicle for urban and leisure travelers. Admittedly, after a two-week test cycle, it was really difficult for us to say goodbye.
