Study: Criteria when buying a new car

The Invensity Innovation Report shows that for 44 percent of specialists and managers in the automotive industry, safe on-board electronics is one of the most important criteria when buying a new car. At 59 percent, this wish is only exceeded by the high price sensitivity of those interested in automobiles. “Cars that can be remotely controlled by unauthorized third parties, incorrect switching in the software such as in the ignition lock scandal – manufacturers now have to pay more attention than ever to security in the close interaction between software and automobiles in order to meet customer requirements,” sums up Paul Arndt, head of the cyber security competence area at Invensity. 41 percent of those surveyed also described the design of the car as important. 37 percent cited the “lowest possible consumption” as being relevant to their decision, while the desire for environmental friendliness was an important criterion for a third. 30 percent would like to benefit from an accident-proof car, for 22 percent the comfort of the new vehicle is crucial. Intelligent parking assistants play a role for a quarter of those surveyed; the car brand is only mentioned as a relevant decision criterion by 11 percent of those surveyed.
