Increasing interest in natural gas
European car manufacturers are showing strong signs of life when it comes to gas models and are currently offering 52 gas-powered car, truck and bus models in Austria.

Increasing interest in natural gas
There are currently 23 different makes of natural gas powered passenger cars on offer in Austria. “The range extends from small cars to limousines,” says Michael Mock, managing director of the Gas Heat Association. Interest in natural gas models in showrooms is increasing because “natural gas is the new, clean diesel for many consumers,” says Mock. In addition to Fiat and Opel, VW and its subsidiaries Audi, Seat and Škoda are among the leading manufacturers of pioneering natural gas mobility in Europe. For example, the VW classic Golf has a new engine that uses the innovative TGI Miller combustion process and thus increases efficiency. Both the Golf and Polo models are equipped with an additional natural gas tank, giving them a range of 422 kilometers per tank of fuel. Audi has the sporty A3 Sportback, the A4 Avant and the A5 Sportback in its range. Seat presented the new Leon TGI, the Ibiza 1.0 TGI and the Arona TGI in the fast-growing small SUV segment. Škoda introduced the Octavia Combi G-TEC and the Scala 1.0. The Kamiq 1.0 city SUV with a natural gas drive has also been announced for mid-2019.
