State champion in screwing and painting
This year, for the first time, the state apprentice champions in automotive technology and body construction technology were crowned at a joint event. The winners come from Tyrol and Upper Austria.

State champion in screwing and painting

The best automotive technology and body construction technology apprentices in Austria, chosen as part of the federal state championships, came to the Siegfried Marcus vocational school in Vienna to once again demonstrate their skills and compete with each other for the state championship victory cup. While the automotive technicians demonstrated their diagnostic and screwdriver skills at the testing stations, the bodywork technicians - including a young woman as the only participant - worked with metal pliers and paint guns. The jury evaluated the performances and awarded points for each station, which were then added up. The award ceremony took place that same evening at the Prateralm event venue in Vienna. There was great excitement when presenter Adi Niederkorn opened the envelopes with the names of the winners.
The best from the West
The winner and state champion of automotive technicians was Elias Krissmer from Tyrol (Autohaus Zorn-Wolf GmbH). Florian Grassauer from Styria (Grassauer KFZ Technik Gmb) came in second place, and Patrick Maier, also from Styria (Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik), came in third place. Tobias Lengauer from Upper Austria (Sonnleitner GmbH & CoKG) was chosen as the winner and national champion of body construction technicians, Andreas Ragginger from Salzburg (Pappas GmbH) came in second place, and Bastian Jöstl from Burgenland (Autohaus Moser GmbH) came in third place. Laura Larcher, the only participant, achieved fourth place in the body construction technology category and received a bouquet of flowers and a strong special round of applause. “It was already planned to hold the state championships in this form in 2020, but the pandemic put a major damper on our plans,” said Josef Harb, Federal Guild Master of Vehicle Technology. “The joy is even greater that this premiere could take place this year.” The event's sponsors included AkzoNobel, Berner, Kastner, Harald Marschalek GmbH, Obereder, Würth and the Österreichische Wirtschaftsverlag.
